3rd Grade Teacher

SALARY:               Based on experience

REPORTS TO:     School Administrator

PURPOSE:  In keeping with Timothy’s vision of Transforming Lives through Christ in the Blue Springs region, this position will support Timothy’s mission to Gather, Grow, Give, and Go at Timothy Lutheran Church and School.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Must be a graduate of a Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod college/university or willing to complete a colloquy program within five years of employment at Timothy
• Must hold a teaching certificate from State of Missouri
• Must demonstrate love of children

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uphold the Biblical truths and confessions as contained in the Book of Concord
• Associate closely with God through prayer, Bible study, regular communion & worship attendance, and actively participates in congregational activities
• Clearly articulate the purpose of Timothy Lutheran Church and School Ministry
• Set annual goals for professional growth and identify & implement priorities within these goals
• Understand and exhibit Christian leadership traits and abilities
• Regularly participate in professional advancement through reading & study and attending conferences & seminars.
• Gives clear, concise instructions with thoughtful questions
• Implement all discipline policies of Timothy Lutheran School or refer situation to School Administrator
• Share playground supervision duties
• Require students show respect for school & church facilities & property, including keeping classrooms & other instructional areas neat and clean
• Share leadership and supervision of school activities (choir, band, plays, mission projects, field trips, etc.)
• Maintain consistent and fair classroom routine for teacher and students to follow
• Maintain pleasant and enjoyable classroom—spiritually, emotionally, and physically
• Prepare weekly lesson plans which may be reviewed by School Administrator
• Use time efficiently and organize teaching assignments systematically
• Review classroom goals with School Administrator
• Assist School Administrator in any way to promote Christian education
• Communicate concerning situations related to instruction or classroom management to School Administrator
